Is there a different type of sound between these two? I'm thinking about getting a pair of grados, but not if they aren't going to be an improvement over my e2s. I basically just use them for portables, but like to listen to dvd-a on my laptop every once in a while. Is this like comparing apples and oranges?

I have tried them both. The SR60 was my first nice pair of headphones (I still own them) and I tried the e2c for a few days. In my opinion both sound similar in that they are forward and have nice attack. It's just that the e2c sounds boring compared to the SR60, as the SR60 resolves more details and is a more nuanced phone than the e2c. I wholeheartedly recommend it over the e2c, as well as the cheaper ksc75.

Very different sound signatures IMHO. SR60 has recessed lower mids while the e2c boosts mids and recesses treble and bass. IMHO both SR60 and KSC75 sound better than the e2c. While the e2c spanks them both when isolation is needed.

SR60 spanks E2C so badly, it's not even funny. (though it can be harsh at times
