hey folks, so the last few weeks im googling the internets to find out what speakers to buy atm im looking at these ones, the JBL LSR305, Q Acoustics 3020, Klipsch RP-150M(these sound like they could use a sub in the future) i use the focusrite 2i2 1st gen to power my microphone for game streaming and a fiio e10k for my beyerdynamics dt990 250ohm now the problem is should i get active or passive speakers, all of them sound great, i could sell my fioo and focusrite and get something better (like for a littledot tube amp? dunno if i can connect those speakers to it) or is there a other way to mix things up? :D my budget is around 300-400€+the money for selling the focusrite and fiio

Passive speakers will need a speaker amp - I'm not sure if any of the Little Dot amps do that. Usually the easiest way to get a speaker amp is a receiver, but there's lots of compact solutions that try to do everything in one smaller box (e.g. TEAC has a lot, the PS Audio Sprout, etc). Active speakers just need a preamp, which lots of headphone amps offer, so you could just plug in there if your 2i2 or e10k offers that connectivity.

I prefer self-powered studio monitors, guess i would go for the JBL LSR305.
You can use the E10K's 3.5mm line-output or the 2i2's dual 1/4" TS outputs for connecting to the LSR305.

oh forgot to mention it but the 2i2 cant run my headphones, when i plug the jack in there comes no sound out so i had to buy the fiio
how about a FiiO E09K this looks like a good way to connect both devices

I'm assuming you mean the newer FiiO K5, as something to replace the E10K?
Guess the K5 is a decent option.

if going with studio monitors my strong personal advice is to try to demo them first (i guess honestly with any speakers)

since you seem to be in Europe not sure where you would do that? in America a trip to guitar center would allow you to check out various options... I personally am a fan of passive speakers plus amps ... because if the amp dies in the powered speakers you have to get it fixed or toss out your speakers and amp (since they are combined) ..

I am also sort of a fan of estate sales so I also like separates as it gives me the opportunity to upgrade my speakers or amp as the opportunity arises...

blah blah blah.. that said... while they are admittedly ugly (but so are those jbl's honestly) the I quite liked the Tannoy Reveal's and Mackie MR5mk3's when I demoed them at guitar center awhile ago.

ive listened to the klipsch and jbl so thats reason ive mentioned them
but atm it looks like a challenge to get a device that can power 250ohm headphones and can connect either passive or active speakers
looks like i have to raise my budget to infinity :D

The Little Dot MkII will drive the headphone loud and send a single ended preamp signal to a speaker amp 9or active speakers), but it warms up the sound more than, say, the Valhalla2.
