I have a small setup in my computer room and I want to transfer vinyl and tapes to a digital format.

Right now im using an onboard sound card ( i know they are junk ) I just wanted to test before I went any further.

I have an aureal vortex sound card that I can put in the computer. This has to be better than the onboard card.

Would this be good for recording or should I try to find something else? If I need to find something else what would you suggest on the cheaper side of things.

Eventually I would like to get an M-Audio Audiophile card but for now will this do?

Anybody have anything better they want to sell me??? To bad I cant use my Creative ISA Awe64

Ok ill stop rambling.

I record my vinyl by going from my 1200MkII > RANE mixer or Marantz Receiver > EMU1212M.

The DAC/ADC in the 1212M is amazing. The recording quality with this setup is very good. I first tried doing this with an Augidy2 and was disgusted with the results.

I would guess an EMU0404 would do almost as good a job for ~$100USD.
