Currently I am using a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz soundcard, feeding into a Cambridge Audio DAC3 via its co-axial digital output. In comparison to using my Pioneer DVD player as a transport, along with its higher quality digital coaxial lead, it doesnt sound bad at all, theres maybe a *slight* difference in the DVD players favour, but it really isnt that much.
I was thinking about using a higher class of soundcard, as I intend to make use of the 100 gigabytes of hard disk space I have to compress my CD collection to the MPC format (which, BTW, I cannot discern any difference between MPC Quality 6 and the original CD).
The question is, if I use something like a Terratec EWX24/96 into my DAC instead of the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, will I notice an improvement in overall sound quality, in theory I guess it should, given that the Santa Cruz resamples everything to 48KHz, but I am not sure. I'd be grateful if anyone could shed any light on this.
