Will adding the schitt stack to my sound blaster z be worth it? at the moment I'm only just thinking about maybe getting the amp magni 2 uber, doesn't have to be uber if its unnecessary, and I will be hooking the amp up to my sound blaster z's line in with a 3.5mm to rca cable. I currently have an audio technica ad900x and a beyerdynamic dt 990 pro 250 ohms headphones, now I believe with my current 2 headphones, getting an amp like the magni 2 and pairing it with my sound blaster z would not really make much of a difference, but the way im going with things, I think I might be going down the path where i will end up with multiple headphones. So my question is, will getting the magni 2 and pairing it with my sound blaster z make ANY difference at all with my current equipment? even tiny differences? If not(which is most likely the answer), would getting the amp be good in the long run anyway? My next set of headphones I'm thinking about getting are maybe a set of akg q701s/k712 or maybe the sennheiser hd600/650. Will getting the new magni 2 amp benefit those headphones?

Hopefully you disable the motherboard's on-board audio, in the BIOS, when you installed the SB-Z card.

You might consider just spending all your audio budget for headphones and plug them directly into the SB-Z card.

Also Massdrop might sell the SB-ZxR card, for $175 (+ $15 shipping)

Then you could sell off your SB-Z card for $50-$60.

Can the sound blaster z drive teh hd600 properly?

I would assume the SB-Z can decently drive the 300-Ohm HD600 headphones.
I've driven 250-Ohm headphones fairly easily off the SB-Z.
I've even tested a SB-Z with a DT990 600-Ohm headphone and the SB-Z drove it decently (with almost max volume?).

Might try reading up and asking on this thread.

so adding something like a magni 2 wouldn't make a difference whatsoever?

EDIT: I'm getting a lot of mixed signals so I'm kinda confused... a lot of people are saying an amp could make a difference and a lot of other people are saying it won't make a difference what so ever. I've also read somewhere(can't remember where), where someone with a sound blaster z and a dt 990 pro added a magni 2 to his setup and it actually helped with the sound quality. I'm also thinking about getting the hd600 which has 300ohms, so its gonna be harder to drive then the dt 990 pro 250ohms. I'm hoping adding the magni 2 to my setup will help improve the sound quality on the hd600 and maybe even the dt 990. All in all, i probably should just get the hd600 first and see how it sounds with my sound blaster z. If only I knew someone who owns a magni 2 that i could try out...

If your willing to spend enough to improve the music audio quality, of the HD600, then getting an external headphone amplifier and connecting it to the SB-Z's Front Speaker jack, might be a good idea.
The SB-Z can not send SBX Headphone thru the Front Speaker jack, but you have no need of SBX Headphone, for 2.0 music audio.

The SB-Z's Front Speaker jack, should be a little better at sending an analog audio signal to an external amp, over plugging the external headphone amplifier, into the SB-Z's headphone jack.

Like this Darkvoice 366se tube headphone amplifier, $215 + shipping.

I was thinking about plugging the magni2 into the line in right into the sound blaster z sound card, with a 3.5mm to rca cable. Would that be okay? Should I get my magni2 first? Or should I get the HD600 and try it out with what I got first? No one has answered my question yet, will adding an amp like the magni 2 to what I have now change anything at all?
