I logged in earlier to find I'm now a "member of the trade" instead of the usual "Headphoneus Supremus" I've been for the past 4 years which, basically, means I can no longer comment (especially in a negative way) on anything audio related.

I've had a quick read of Head-Fi's Posting Rules and Terms of Use with regards to this new, unexpected, "Members of the trade" status I've been awarded and to comply, in full, all my posts from now on in will be purely "non-audio" in nature.

The Pink Balls competition has an "audio" prize so, as such, I feel it best to pull the plug on it. Thanks once again to all the contributors and apologies to all the entrants

I'm lost. Why are you suddenly a member of the trade?

You dont sell equipment, you arnt a tradesman or a business owner who runs through head-fi. Although people do come to you in themselves for mods and such. I don't understand the application of the status at all. If its to be applied to you it shoudl be applied to people like AKZip as well.

Not being allowed to comment positivly or negatively basically amounts to a silence enforced by the status, I know that you are one of the most articulate and spoken members on this forum, especially on the amps forum. If you follow the rules as laid down for Members Of The Trade, it really does amputate you from participation as a head-fier in the way that we all love you for.

I think that this status application might be a misunderstanding. However I may not be privvy to all the facts.

Hope that this works out for you Mike.

Come on Pinkie, MoT status is no reason to go all AdamCalifornia on us

.

Seriously though, I'd shoot a message to the powers that be and see what's what. The label doesn't make any sense to me, not that I'm a decent barometer of sensible.

Now what in the world can Members of Trade do then?!

It seems like they're so restricted to what they can say... I'm very surprised that they're not allowed to talk about their own products
