Sorry 'Bout That Last Outage
Nov 10, 2002 at 1:39 AM Thread Starter Post #1 of 19
Well, that was one of our longest single outages that I can remember. We were down for a two hours or so for most of the world, and yet some could still get in with no problems.

Well, everyone should be able to get in now.

Thanks, Neil, for fixing it up!

much props to jude and neil!

the longest outage was only 2 hours?! that's pretty impressive!

i was in the same situation... i was away from head-fi for >24 hours and was beginning to suffer from withdrawal... when to my surprise clicking on the forum links got me an error page! oh the agony! oh the defeat! (for some reason, though, it worked on my ibook... so i didn't start with the cold shivers and whatnot).

[/size]There may have been longer outages that I can't recall, but this was definitely one of the longer ones.

Again, sorry 'bout that, y'all, and thanks for the nice comments.

Yeah, I never realized how much time I spend on this site until it went down this afternoon. I got a lot of stuff that I needed to get done, done. Amazing. But now head-fi's back so I can go back to procrastinating...Sweet!

I thought it was just my computer having problems, so I switched from IE to NEtscape, didn't help. Rebooted computer, didn't help. Went downstairs to try it on the main computer, didn't help. Even tried IE and Netscape on the downstairs computer, didn't help. It was good as I was in the process of posting some rather lengthy posts, os it was good that I didn't lose them.

Thanks again for the wonderful site that has brought together a community of people who selflessly help one another. (And spend each others money too.....)

Lord Bless

Well, there IS always HeadWize...

But I hope my email didn't contribute to a deluge of email in your inbox, Jude...

...and MegaProxy.com was able to access Head-Fi during the 'outage', BTW.

Jude, I hope you weren't trying to take a page out of Axl Rose's publicity stunt book. What happened anyway? Did the high traffic bring your server to its... shunanunanananananananana knees knees!? (sorry couldn't resist)

You forgot the part: It's gonna bring you down -- huh! And, well, no. It wasn't a traffic issue. There was some type of odd server port security issue coupled with the flux capacitor rejecting some expired asparagus.

Really, it was cruel. I wake up at like 5:00 and can't get it to load. So I'm stuck with logging in post-Saturday night activities -- let's just say it's not as ...

... ah, time for some sleep.

Thats one advantage of me living on the other side of the pond...

Whilst you were all having that outage, I was merrily fast asleep
