Sony's new flagship 2014 - MDR-Z7

Why do you think that the Z7 is power hungry? I think you can easily drive it from a dap, even a EU capped one.

Able to drive it with a DAP is one thing, but it won't sound the best.

To be honest I wasn't planning to use an amp (I thought Z7 was 32 ohms) but apparently Z7 is power hungry. I'm considering buying TH610 instead but I might buy a portable amp if needed, no big deal.

Owning a Denon D5000 myself, which has the same impedance (25 Ohm), but is more sensitive than the Fostex TH600 (D5000: 106 dB/mW, TH600: 95 dB/mW) I find the Z7 much more easy to drive than the D5000s. With the D5000 I have to crank the volume significantly more up to get an ideal loudness.

The MDR-Z7 'phones have a 70 ohm impedance rating.

Yes I know. What's your point exactly?
Techincally the Z7s should be harder to drive than the D5000s and TH600s (which have the same impedance of 25 Ohm) but they are not. That's the point I made.
Obsideyn was considering the TH600s because he felt the Z7s are too difficult to drive. Owing the D5000s myself, which have the same impedance as the TH600s, but are more sensitive I can claim that in practice the D5000s are harder to drive than the Z7s

In earlier posts, I thought you and @obsidyen were stating that the impedance is 25 ohm. Just adding a bit of info to the discussion.

Relax.

Sorry, in my post I didn't mean anything other than asking you what you mean...having read my post again I can see how it can be interpreted as rude, sorry again :)
