Really like how they sound, pretty well balanced with the frequency, yes bassy, but actually feel z5 are a bit more bassier. The sounfstage wow big and expansive, lots of details and I feel I am being wrapped in 3D sound

Hey gerelmx1986 and welcome to the Z7 Adventure!

I'm excited for you!  =-D

Mentioned many times, the Z7 is wonderfully easy to drive and sounds fantastic right off an Iphone.

Going balanced takes it yet again to another level.

Like fine wine, the massive 70mm Driver requires some aging before this vintage really starts to sing.

I have noticed significant improvements throughout the Journey.
10-50hrs   100-250hrs   500+ hours now and often I find myself caught off guard, pleasantly awestruck while I melting into the music.

Yes I'm still gushing over the Z7, You may Love them or you may Hate them.

But for me, it's my Cup-Of-Wine

And I haven't even gotten around to modding them yet. =-D

I bought a Pono to test the waters for balanced. To me the Pono unbalanced sounded good already and very good balanced. But guess what the Sony ZX1 sounds even s little better as the balanced Pono. The Pono was sold, the ZX1 is still around. If a device offers balanced, you need to go that route. If it is well designed unbalanced, it is no reason to worry.

oh!

I've very been curios about Pono Vs ZX1

Well that seals the deal for me, time to save up for the ZX1
and on the plus side I plan to eventually buy the Z1R so that will pave the way nicely.

Also You're right I really need to Mod the Z7 I'm pretty excited about the potential.

Thanks again pietcux I really appreciate you insight and feedback!

Compared to the ultrasone HFI 780, THE Z7 win hands down, more natural and detailed than the ultrasone, seems like ultrasone have artificially boosted highs

How do they compare to X2, especially in terms of bass? I listen to lots of EDM.

Heading out of town for a few hours.

But to put it simply,

The Z7 Spank the X2

Nice.

I'm not sure my Z7s are going to sell, so I might be "stuck" with them. At least I can show my wife that I tried to sell them, while I smugly listen to music.

$379 is a pretty sweet deal =-)

I'd trade you my Woox X2's or HD8-DJ plus some extra junk for your z7 lol

To add a little more.

Highs are cleaner and more detailed
Mids are richer and smoother - X2 a bit grainy
Lows go Deeper and more thunderous - X2 are a little more punchier
Soundstage is wider on the X2 but the 3D imaging is better on the z7

What do you plan to power the (X2 of Z7) with while listening to EDM?

To be honest I wasn't planning to use an amp (I thought Z7 was 32 ohms) but apparently Z7 is power hungry. I'm considering buying TH610 instead but I might buy a portable amp if needed, no big deal.

Very cool, lots of respect for Fostex  =-)

If you do get the TH610 come back and tell us how you like it.

Why do you think that the Z7 is power hungry? I think you can easily drive it from a dap, even a EU capped one.
