Anyone has ever try to drive the Z7 with a speaker amp?For example a firstwatt...
I have not, but obviously we have heard that too much power can terminate them! At the same time they really do open-up with good amplification.

Been a while since I used my Z7 but felt like some wired love so pulled them out along my Pono player and have chilling out to some Patricia Barber. These still sound awesome in balanced mode :xf_cool:

That’s right the mini 3.5mm X 2 balanced cables are used by both! Perfect match!

A few days ago, I came back to my Sony Z7s. Lastly, I was thinking of selling them to purchase the big brother, Z1Rs...

... But, these last days I was (and "am", right now) having a pleasure time with them, listening mainly to jazz. I will try different genres -which I prefer with other headphones - after that.

Althought, the Z1R remains in my wish list... :L3000:

This is warning to Z7 and potentially Z7M2 owners. What I thought were "chrome" pieces on the ends of the headband turn out to be plastic. A layer of faux chrome is painted on this plastic part. One evening I was using some clear 3M packaging tape to remove dust/lint from my headphones and when I dabbed this plastic piece with the tape it pulled off chunks of the paint.

The headband is the one area they went cheap with the Z7. The rest of the headphone uses solid parts such as aluminum, magnesium, and leather. But the underside of the headband, unlike the top, is faux leather or what people call pleather. And of course there's the fake chrome accents shown in the photo.

I don't know if they changed this for the Z7M2 but just in case keep the tape away from the headband and don't get it wet.

Very informative. Thank you.
I’ll be mindful of this. :)
