There's a more in depth discussion about this somewhere up in the thread, from 2019 or 2021. Basically a transformer is needed and that would indeed mess up the sound for electronic/engineering reasons that escape me but sound reasonable when reading. Search for transformer in this thread.

Simply if it would work in USA with a yes or no without issues. That’s it

Today I got the Hybrid and definitely my favorite are the Sony stock pads. The hybrid add too much to the highs and the sibilance increases. The velour lessens it is confortable but has a bit leakage. The Sheepskin tame the highs and adds a lot of bass. So for me I am going with the stock.

... had the Z1R on my radar for so long, but it's finally in da house!

Sony.MDR-Z1R.jpg

first impressions:
  • premium packaging and presentation (only surpassed by the Klipsch HP-3)
  • super comfortable to wear
  • unique tuning for audiophile bassheads :smile_phones:
  • sounds great even without any EQ applied

Comparison with noire x and zmf caldera?
I have the NX since yesterday and is very well balanced. It has a well controlled bass, is one of the most beautiful bass I have ever heard, the highs are well controlled too, no sign of harshness, mids a bit forward, Very clean and detailed sound, very pleasant in all the frequencies. People say it is easy to drive but it is not correct, It is very generous when you pair with a powerful amp, it scales really well with the volume, and you can make it relaxed or very lively without loose the ear. It is a very well rounded closed-back.

The Sony has much warmer sound, a boomier bass, sparkly treble with high peaks. Mids a bit recessed. It is a very fun headphone, easy to drive, but very picky with the source. You can tame the highs with certain amps ( a tube amp with warm tubes for example ).

For Noire X:
Comfort of the Sony is best in class. The Noire X isn't bad, but it has clamp and it doesn't just dissapear like the Sony's do.
Sony has a bit more punch and weight on the low end which is fun. Sounds like you are a bit under water on some tracks and requires EQ to fix.
Noire X sounds very clean and precise. Substantially better imaging and separation. Bass is still great, I needed to EQ it up a bit.

Probably hard to quantify, but what % bass would you guesstimate Dekoni sheep over the stock?

Taming highs/extra bass doesn't sound bad. Grabbed a couple extras, either way.

Complicated to estimate, but I found the measurements and this is insane, don't know what do you think:

I changed the Element III for a K19 and the bass even got higher but perfectly controlled at the same time. If I increase the bass with the sheepskin my head will blow.

Just got the sheepskin in the mail, my thoughts:
  • Bass is a little punchier.
  • Soundscape shrank very slightly.
  • Thicker than the stock pads, had to adjust headband from "3" to "5". Fits head much more snug, relatively comfortable.
  • Slightly pain in the ass to swap, slots/pins took a good bit of fidgeting.
Overall I like them. Wish they "clipped" a bit easier when swapping. Someone that doesn't like the punchier bass will probably want the velour/hybrid/fenes.
