Does anyone know where I could find a set of replacement pads for the Z1R? I contacted both Sony suppliers from their website and they were unhelpful, as well as the Sony chat support. I find it shocking that Sony can’t be bothered to allow customers to order pad replacements on a >2k pair of headphones that are still currently being sold new. I checked everywhere online, but I haven’t had any luck.

Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone. I’ve been receiving a lot of requests for Z[1R pads. Right now your only access is Japan. I’ve requested an allocation but it’s likely going to be about 30 days before we see them. - this is relevant to US customers primarily -

Thanks for the heads-up Jason; I was just about to message you.
I found one place I line that (allegedly) had them. The posted price was >500 bucks for each pad... that can’t be right....right?

Actually, I just saw the post a few pages back. Seems like they’re 150-ish each. Frickin expensive, but not 1k for a set I guess.
Thanks everyone

I’ve been told but still trying to confirm that they are $200 a set. They’ve been quite a lot of effort to get and the only set I’ve been able to get was for a warranty claim in the 1st 90 days of ownership and that was like pulling teeth on a dragon. Don’t you guys worry too much, I have a great relationship with Sony so somehow someway I’ll make happen and I guarantee it won’t cost the kind of $$ you guys have been told

*** so that I’m fair to Sony, what happens is parts are sold/provided to a separate company. It can take some serious navigation trying to get parts they have but haven’t listed in their system. Signature products have this trend because (I think) the Signature products are limited runs low volume as compared to their high volume sales products.

 Good news! Well I hope. So if you folks want these pads let TSAVAlan know at Alan@thesourceav.com. They are in very limited supply. We’re not sure how any we are going to receive but get on the list and I’ll do my best to get everyone that wants them done. We will let you know the exact price and expected delivery if your on the list. No deposits just a list as soon as you can.

Blade Runner 2049 OST is very immersive with the MDR-Z1R. I think that the reverb plays well with this type of soundtrack.

MAJOR Z1R HACK THAT ELEVATES SQ TO ANOTHER LEVEL IN PORTABLE SCENARIO. PLEASE TRY AND REPORT BACK.

& also ... big MOJOPOLY SQ breakthrough.

I built a ROON ROCK NUC over the weekend (essentially a dedicated ROON appliance that is headless)... SQ across my chain increased dramatically.

last night fired up the POLY connected.. running Z1R... also ***THIS IS KEY*** use the audeze DSP for LCD 4 turned on in Roon for the Z1R.

MY GOD

I have never heard Poly/Z1R sound so good (well Z1r sounds better plugged into mTT2) but portable this is amazing.

i have a linear power supply on the way for the NUC.... this should will also provide a boost.

guys you really need to try this!

I ordered a pair of pads last year just to have an extra pair to avoid any issues, according to the parts website it is a 10 day wait.
