Oh, ok. You can't install anything else over Midnight, except for the StockRevert or external tunings.
From the firmware's page: Instructions (read all, carefully)
Installation:
1. Connect the player to your PC and enable the Mass Storage mode on the player;
2. Run "Midnight_v2_(for_1A)_installer.exe" on your computer to install the firmware;
3. Install "Midnight_external_tuning_1A" or "Project_Z_external_tuning_1A" (run FirmwareUpdateTool.exe from inside the corresponding folder).
- the installation will not be complete without also applying the external tuning!
• For both steps 2 and 3 the player should restart into the update mode
and then the update bar on the player's screen should reach the end.
The update bar won't reach the end if you try to install Midnight over Midnight.
I am really enjoying Midnight v2 but I was wondering if I was wanting to go back to Stock firmware which revert to stock firmware do I use to go from Midnight v2 firmware to stock firmware?

This is again mentioned on the firmware's page... (this is from the "Midnight v2 (for 1A)" page)
To revert to the stock firmware:
1. Connect the player to your PC and enable the Mass Storage mode on the player;
2. Run "StockRevert_Midnight_(for_1A).exe" on your computer to revert back to the stock firmware
When you download a firmware from the website, it includes the main firmware installer and the tunings, as well as the StockRevert package for that specific firmware.
My advice for everyone is to please read all the info before proceeding to install a firmware on your player.
Imagine if I would write there that "installing this firmware is definitive and not reversible", and someone would install it without reading this.
I recently bought a pair of Shure SRH1540 closed back headphones and connected them to my WM1A to the 3.5mm jack using Midnight v2 firmware with high gain output switched on for both stereo mini jack and balanced standard jack.
With my Shure SRH1540 plugged in I have to increase the volume to around 85 to get them sounding loud enough even with high gain mode switched on. However, I have a pair of Fiio FD5 and I can get them sounding loud on high gain mode with the volume turned up to only 45. Could it be that the SRH1540 are a lot harder to drive than the Fiio FD5?
Just did a battery stamina test on my A55 with the new Midnight fw in PlusV2 mode playing 16/44 flac in Source direct 60 on the volume. From 90% (I use the battery care option) to shut down it played about 39 hours. Very impressive

I get north of 30 hours too, A55 Midnight Plus V2, playing 16/44 FLAC without any of the other EQ/effects turned on. Around 40 - 50 volume knob. No BT used. Battery care option on.
Truly impressive.
Thanks Mr Walkman once again for unlocking its massive potential!
Not been on here a while, but was pleasantly surprised to see a new 1A Firmware. I managed to install the Midnight V2 FW, but when I tried installing the Midnight_external_tuning, I kept on being prompted to connect device even though it was already connected. I disconnected USB cable and reconnected, but still experienced same issue. Any ideas?

Once again, thank you MrWalkman for producing yet another wonderful firmware option for our Walkmans!
I'm currently really enjoying Midnight v2 (A50), with Midnight ext. tuning, region J, plus mode 2, normal gain and alternate DAC. I'm blown away at the range of sound signatures we can now enjoy from our Walkmans, and the convenience of tweaking settings through the settings file and hold switch.
I’m writing a user review about MrWalkman’s 1A........I’ll be including some talk of firmwares. As with players, it’s time-intensive and somewhat detailed.
