Sony's new storage medium, "Universal Media Disc", is what they're going to use in their "Playstation Portable", to be released in late 2004.. I wonder if there will be recordable versions and portable recorders/players reminiscent of todays minidisc recorders.

Just look at that cool rounded design.. Now, imagine a minidisc recorder shaped like that... :drools:

Whats the big deal...its just a dvd made smaller. Why not just use a regular dvd that can hold 10 times more information.

i think they said that the media will be used with the upcoming portable Playstation thingy? I heard the thing will play music as well as mpeg4 movies. Will Sony take over Nintendo's throne just as they did with Playstation ?

I'd like to see if they make this an MD replacement, or co-exist alongside the current MD. I heard that Sony wants to use ATRAC3 and AAC on the PS portable.

The shape of the cartridge goes a long way in helping unit designers too... an easy way out for them at least
