Well, first I would like to thank all members of this list for posting observations and opinions of different headphones, sources and cables. After many hours of reading these forums, I have been able to assemble a good collection of gear which consists of the following in order of purchase:
Earmax Pro (purchased about 3 to 4 yrs ago when the Pro first came to market)
Senn HD600 (purchased just after the EMP)
Ety ER-4P (purchased when they first hit the market)
Sony D25 portable (purchased about 2mths ago)
Red Clous Cable (purchased about 2 mths ago)
Sony SCD C333ES (purchased from EBay about 3 weeks ago)
ER-4P to 4S cable (purchased about 2 weeks ago)
Without the input of this list I would have never heard of the Clous, Sony portable, 333ES or the conversion cable for the Ety ER 4P. I have been more than happy with all of them and feel I may have reached headphone bliss. I might experiment with another amp at some point in the future, but now that I have a decent source, I just want to sit back and enjoy the music and not dwell on the what ifs and other nagging curiosities.
Now more to the point of my post. The 333ES that I purchased did not come with the remote. This was a demo unit and the remote was apparently misplaced. They did include the RM-DC80. I'm not sure what model deck this unit was made for. It controls just about all of the functions on the 333 with the exception of the digital filters which I consider a must have. I have called Sony and other 3rd party sellers of remotes and cannot find a replacement remote for the 333ES. Sony advised that the remote (RM-SC300) is out of production and they do not have an alternative replacement. I find it very disturbing that Sony did not manufacture additional remotes for this unit knowing that there might be some defects that might surface. In any event, I was wondering if the remote for the 222ES has the digital filter button. Perhaps that remote will work with the 333ES? Is there a way to activate the digital filter selections without a remote? Any input would be greatly appreciated and once again, thanks to all who have taken their time to provide opinions that have helped me in making the selections noted above!
