1) If the player is used (old), then might Sonicstage still be used or do they completely update that without having Sonicstage installed at all?
2) I can get this player for $40. Worth it? Anything else better than that at such a price point, even if it's used?
3) It's possible the current owner lost the Sony specific USB cable. Do I have to have that for sure? Where might I find another?

Ok, so I been looking around. And I really really really can't find anything that compares at such a low price point. Even with buying the $10-$20 usb cable, it's still cheaper than any new Cowon i7 or new Sony or new iRiver. And I can't find any of these used, either. So I think I will buy this and a usb cable for the Walkman. But my question about Sonicstage still hasn't been answer.

No SonicStage. It was one of the first drag and drop Walkman models.

Its drag and drop as was mentioned. I have the 618 and got mine a year ago for $140. 40 for the 616 seems like a pretty good deal, dunno about the cables though.
