There seem to be a few other "clubs" scattered 'round the head-fi summit, so I thought I'd make one for past and present Qualia owners, as well as anyone with general interested in them.

Though they're not without their flaws and idiosyncrasies, these headphones remain one of my all-time personal favorites. In fact they're one of the few flagships for which I'd consider buying a backup pair at some point in the future. For me they represent the pinnacle of a particular kind of headphone species, those that adhere to a highly analytical and exacting---albeit slightly artificial---approach to rendering sound. I feel that Qualia is almost unrivaled when it comes to its spatial capabilities, its pin-point imaging and instrument separation. Instruments and voices sound to me as though they are genuinely present. Hauntingly so.

Not to mention they're just damn sexy. That's my pair, by the way. : P

These are the best out there, right next to the K1000. I don't own one, but had one for a day, red pads, man, they are great.
On the other hand, you have to be very careful with them, very fragile, imo.

Looks, indeed, very sexxxy, oh la la...

Here is my "red" medium size Qualia
I didn't use the original Qualia stand like the one of Muppetface in this picture
but I used the Orpheus original headphone stand at the time of  display at the first
Thai Canjoin meeting.

Mine Qualia is  with balanced blue dragon cable terminated in 4 pin XLR that can be used with
my Balancing Act.  I  use my Qualia with vocal and classical music with great result.

When I had Qualia I didnt have any decent system around, only my portable, but even then, I was shocked how good they sounded, especially with liquid trance, wow...

Yeah, vocals on the Qualia 010 are pretty impressive. They sound like they're physically present in the room with you. Makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on-end.

I agree it's nice with classical music, but I also really like it with electronica and anything with a spacious, layered and complex presentation.

Does anyone know what kind of paint is used on the solid (non-carbon fibre) black parts of the housing? Like on the hinges. There's a small scuff near the hinge that I'd like to touch up if possible.

Send an e-mail to Sony, however it will depend who you talking to...

I'm a happy owner of a red Qualia 010 headphone.  Mine has a small headband (a perfect fit) and black dragon upgraded cable with 4-pin XLR termination.  I love mine.

When I was in school, the other kids wouldn't let me be in their clubs.  They told me I wasn't cool enough.

Can I be in this club?

Very nice. I saw you replied in that sales thread that just popped up last week, but that one is still available it seems. Did you find another one in such a short time? That was really lucky if so!

I think the asking price is a little high on the one currently up in the sales forum....
