Hi guys,
I'm new to this forum as a member, however I've been reading through it for couple of years.
I've recently purchased Westone UM Pro 50 IEM and I use them with Sony PHA-1A dac/amp. I'd like to get a balance set-up and thinking to get either dac/amp (i really like Sony PHA-3) with balanced output or one of the DAPs. Looks like recent Onkyo DP-X1 is the one that has it all at a decent price (not like overpriced A&Ks).
Unfortunately there is no place where I can audition both of them and make my final decision.
Does anyone of you have a chance to listen to both Sony PHA-3 and Onkyo DP-X1 with balanced cable and BA IEMs? Any significant improvement in sound quality over say Spotify (320kbp) on iPhone and DP-X1 or iPhone/Sony PHA-3?
When I listen to Spotify on iPhone/Sony PHA-1A i don't hear a difference with lossy files, however if I listen to .flac on desktop with PHA-1A it increases soundstage and provides more details on some songs.
Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks.
