Thanks chontler.

Worked it out. The ZX1 can play DSD64 but not DSD128 it seems.

I've never dabbled with dsd but had a go and yeah, the stock music player won't play 128. However, poweramp (alpha build) will play 128 - but not 256.

Poweramp reports its playing at that resolution too, but my old ears can't tell the difference to verify.  They do make the interface a little less responsive

I had to use a file explorer to play the files however as they weren't showing up in poweramps database

Listening to Miles Davies Tutu flac>Sony NWZ-ZX1>Sennheiser HD800. This music sounds so good, it simply cannot get better.

Didn't think the zx1 was powerful enough for the hd800.

Since I uncapped it it is powerful enough for all my headphones. Sure you cannot reach ear bleeding levels, but that is not my piece of cake anyways. What you get is a well controlled performance for normal listening.

Yep driving is about the speaker "cone" handling performance not about ear bleeding volumes.

F.e the only thing i could get to handle well my now about to sell MDR-1R was a fiio x3 and te oppo ha-2 with bass boost

Oh, I ride with a bicycle and then I don't use music at all. It's only in the office. We are three and all use headphones. Sometimes open, sometimes closed. If you don't listen too loud nobody gets disturbed from an open can.

LOL reminds me of the guy using HD650s on the bus the other day. Except there was no music coming out of the cans, probably just showing off in public haha.

Again, mobile in my case means, this is what I take with me to work everyday in my backpack. Then there is no place for too much weight, so only the ZX1 and the flavour of the day can. I do not listen using this on a bus or train. For that purpose I have several IEMs and the lovely Bose QC25.
