Any idea whats the Battery Life is w/ FLAC in Balanced mode?

I can't answer from personal experience, but here's some information from the help guide. Hopefully this helps you out.

Just tested battery playing only 320kbps files. Flac with no enhancements gave 15 hrs. Now I easily get 18 hrs and amazingly that's with 2 enhancements on. This is using the balanced jack.

Mp3 music sounds as good to imo.

I do hear small differences between FLAC and 320MP3 Like it’s a little more airy.
Unfortunately for me I listen to trance music and MP3 price is way less than FLAC so I’m in a way stuck to MP3.
Moreover Sony daps handle higher quality MP3 320 better than 192 or lower.

Mp3 music sounds as good to imo.

I'll add that with ALAC, battery saver engaged and eq activated, I can get 20 hours with super minimal screen time.
I'd love to know if anyone is getting that 26 hours with 96/24 FLAC?

I listen mostly to jazz and progressive metal. I love ZX300 kind of dark character with enjoyable level of detail. I can’t find anything that this player does badly.

I keep looking for alternatives at under $500 as the bottom of the front screen not being used does annoy me a bit. I can't find anything with the UI and long battery as most daps last somewhere between 8-12 hours. Sony daps have been the only one where I don't need to worry about battery life throughout the day.

On another note, it looks like 1TB micro sd cards should be coming out soon (albeit at really expensive prices) as it was announced at mobile world congress recently. The ZX300 with a 1TB card would allow me to carry my entire library which is better than trying to decide what I want to include or not.

Seeing the DAP is a couple years old, it definitely doesn't have the latest of tech, but of course it's nothing short of amazing. If we're lucky we may see an update to the 300 later this year.

Not at all, in fact it's still pretty updated .. 4.4 balanced is the future and it's already sounding wonderfully.. Can't update my ears so... I don't think there is room for improvement..
