Im in that route too. 2.5mm balanced and use adapters to 3.5mm and soon 4.4mm. Seems 2.5mm is more famous because of AK players and other DAPs beside Sony.

I agree but at the same time one would be losing ground as one would be getting a TRRS for 2.5mm instead of a TRRRS for the 4.4mm plug.

You could opt for an adapter with a pig tail then, much more convenient IMO.well the only bad thing is the connector sticks out so much, kinda worried it'll break since i usually have my dap in my back pocket

This one from FiiO is built well. The wire is much thicker then their other adapters and mine came with a spare length of twisted wire in the box... not sure why?You could opt for an adapter with a pig tail then, much more convenient IMO.

The FiiO converter is very well built.
I went for the Fidue one though, I like the sound better, although it is quite expensive in my opinion.

I prefer the simple adapter than the pigtail. I remember I tried a very expensive pigtail adapter and compared it to simple adapter. The simple adapter sounds good, no degradation and coloratin.
The pigtail adapter sounded more congested and added a bit warmth. The pigtail has more complex components, such as cable, female adapter, male adapter, solder, ect. Could be one of those have made the SQ degraded.
Just my 2 cents

Has anyone had any success with the usc-dac in current OS versions?
MacOS 10.13 and Windows 10?
Neither work for me so wondering if I got a bad device or if Sony is behind in supporting recent OS versions (by a year?).

Now, to another freaking 200 hours burn-in, again...
But the sound worth the waiting anyway...

Is the zx300 bringing out the best in HE 400i in balanced? is it adequate?Balanced cables came today... huge step-up from SE output endeed.

Not so sure since I haven’t gone through the burn-in yet, and it sure has greatly affected the sound from the zx300.Is the zx300 bringing out the best in HE 400i in balanced? is it adequate?
But I can tell it is clearer and better in detail from SE output, and more vibrant. So I’m seeing an even better sound from the ZX300 Balanced out. Off the box it hasn’t reach the equal to using my HA2SE amp, but my experience with the SE say it will surpass HA2SE in a week or two. Will update this after the burn-in (・∀・)

It’s a 6-core bronze cable done by a local store in my country. Not sure if it has a name...Sexy - which cable is that you are using with your Z5?
Retailered for ~$100 I think
