Right now I'm listening to the ZX300 via the balanced output using Meze 99 and they sound absolutely fantastic! Lots of space, depth and width. I also have the iBasso DX200 with AMP4 and NW-WM1a. The ZX300 in balanced mode happily stands shoulder to shoulder with them

Commando here, the official Sony case does add some protection though.

Fine grit from the roads is one of the worst things that can scratch a screen, because of minerals that are really hard like 8 and above on the mohs hardness scale. Sand or even metal shouldn't scratch hardened glass, in normal contact. But of course I don't know how hardened the Sony glass is, if at all. I would assume it's hardened to some degree.

But if you're careful I see no problem.

Have you ordered some 4.4mm balanced cables or adapters? I think i asked you this question earlier. I must also add that since i got this DAP i was mostly using balanced out but off late i have been using the IT01 from the SE port and it is equally resolving if not as powerful. It's a treat overall. I have been holding off from putting the screen guard as im crap at it and can't muster up enough courage to.

I find the player without a case so smooth that it's almost slippery. I have a case and screen protector incoming.
