Its a supplied case for the Sony EX1000 and the Sony EX600 insde is red for the EX1000 and black for the EX600.

Very nice, I'm considering this dap as well. Would you mind testing the dac mode with upsampling if possible. I'd be very curious with your thoughts how it sounds especially with the ex1000s. I went back to the ex1000s with stock cable using the Grace m920 and Roon. Listening to FKA Twigs Pendulum was a revelation in terms of resolution, especially compared to TOTL ba iems. It's very pronounced around the 2 min mark with the panning around your headspace.

Sound even in SE is really impressive. Can't imagine what balanced sounds like but if it's anything like the PHA-3 from Sony then.....I am going shopping for 1 myself.

The 800ST have slightly rolled treble but they are pretty much fitting your request. Stock cable is not great but I got mine done by @PETEREK and love them. I am a Sony fanboy. My 800ST EX1000 and MA900 have all been custom cabled. Since the cost is below your budget you could get a nice cable for it and be having a 16mm DD driver IEM with "Studio Tuning" (ST)

I find the ex800st to be hard to find a matching cable, I have the ex600, ex800st and ex1000, some how the ex600 and ex1000 can interchange cable between the two and sound good, even with a ex1000 cable reterminated to balance 4.4, it sound just as good, but i dislike the SQ when used with the ex600 and ex1000 cables (including the ex1000 with balanced cable) this being said, thats just me.


To bad you don't live in Japan, my visit to Japan two weeks ago, saw a few second hand ex800st at e-earphones, at about USD 120, the quality is like 99% new, and I was tempting to buy one, but held off as I only purchased a new ex1000, to join my collection of the ex600 that I got 7years ago, and the ex800 about 2years ago, both still 99% new in quality. I look after my stuff well.
