Ah that makes sense then. Thanks!

Wow I definitely wouldn’t risk that. But for the Shure IEMS, Im safe using an aftermarket 4.4mm balanced mmcx cable? If so, anyone have a link to one? I want to see what you mean.

I cant find the MDR-1ABT specifically mentioned. Id ask support or other members who have the HP

That's no problem. My 4.4mm IEM cable is made by Norne, and I use it with the Sony XBA Z5 and the JVC HA-FW01. They're both mmcx, so I can swap around.

I even used the Sony Kimber Kable with the JVCs. (yes, it's 4.4mm)

cool, sorry, would you mind sending me a link too the 4.4mm IEM cable from Norne? I'm having difficulty finding the particular one you mean.

I updated my NW-ZX300 to firmware 1.10, my unit was converted from J to E, so I can tell that at least it doesn't mess with converted units (I did not try to see if the destination tool still works on 1.10 though).
APT-X HD works fine with my WM-1000XM2 although I'll revert to LDAC which is technically superior anyway.

P.S. would anyone, by any chance, know how to take screenshots on the device?

A reviewer on Amazon states that those Sony XBA Z5's sounds better than the Shure 846. True?

superuser1, just noticed that you did in fact post a link: https://www.englishtaobao.net/Product/527991340619/
sorry to ask that you be so specific, but can you tell me which option I'll want to choose in the drop down for the Shure 846 (for use with the nw-zx300)? Is it the "4.4 Balance Line"?

No, Sony use their own IC.

I’ll PM you. Not sure if it’s against the rules to post commercial links on posts.
