It might do OK with those 2 phones. My EU unit does fine with Ultrasone Signature Pro and could make even HE-500 enjoyable enough though not ideal

it does have on start screen 'release year' and after clicking it - you can choose year. there will be performers for specified year from your database.

i owned fiio x5 2nd gen before nw-zx2 (along with other daps. including fiio x7) and it was quite good upgrade in terms of sound quality. plus side buttons with controls worth quite a lot.

I use the Yuin PK1 with the ZX2 and it gets way loud enough.

Recently I've been trying out Poweramp (paid version) on the ZX2. For some reason the music sounds super distorted and slow motion when I used it today, yesterday was fine. Anyone experienced the same thing? I did a search and saw general comments like distortion as well. I wish the ZX2 had a better equalizer than just 4 bands, but otherwise I'm still loving it and it's tank like qualities

Just for curiosity, I have checked with a simple voltmeter the phone output of my EU ZX2.
4,4 mV...

 
I believe non EU version can deliver more tha triple....
