Interesting. Pepsione1 I bought a pair of V6s for myself and another pair for my gf. When I first got it I thought they were really good. Now I'm not so sure but then again I haven't spent much time listening to it and when I did it was listening to MP3s through the computer. My gf uses it on her MD and PCDP. I was thinking of upgrading it. But I guess she likes it. I'm gonna be getting a headphone amp and I'll mate it to a good source and see what happens.

Howie, I was just wondering if you could tell me how the V6's performed when listening to mp3's thru the pc? I will be doing this 95% of the time as most of my music collection is on my pc.

I will be using a Audigy sound card connected to a Pioneer reciever and I will connect the V6's to the headphone jack of the reciever.

lowteg, i use my Sony MDR-7506 with a Dell 4500s desktop at work listening to mp3's. With these headphones (V6/7506), you'll hear a lot of flaws and siblants in your mp3 files if they are not encoded correctly. in fact, i hear a fair amount of siblants with mp3's encoded with 128 kb/s, I usually encode my mp3's at either 160 or 192 kb/s.

I'm sure its been said many times before, but with the V6/7506, they reveal a lot of the flaws in music. they're that detailed.

cheers,
BONG

I haven't experimented with it too much. My initial experience is better than the experience of late. Somewhere along the line I seem to have screwed up some configs that made the V6 sound weird on my computer. I remember using it for CS and MP3 and it was great. But for some reason (maybe the computer upgrade) or maybe b/c realplayer messes with my volume controls it sounds really weird. Weird as in it doesn't sound right. I assume it'll sound good though as the V6 sounds pretty good through the receiver headphone jacks. But since the V6 is easy to drive I don't think you'll have a problem with the V6 relative to having it hooked up to a PCDP or to a receiver.

lowteg,

re-encoding a 128kbps mp3 to 192kbps will result in both poorer quality (compared to even the 128kbps original) and a waste of space. Never try to re-encode a mp3, always do it from the cd source if possible. You cannot recover lost frequency by re-encoding to a higher bitrate.
