I'm not sure which to get and haven't been able to find a direct comparison. What is the difference between the bass depth, overall clarity, and soundstage? Is the Shure worth the extra $20?

I do not have any experience with the Sony's but I own the 440's and they are fantastic. I have had them a little over a year and most people recommend getting the 840 pads well, I put this off until a few weeks ago and I wish I would have gotten them a long time ago they really do improve an already amazing pair of cans. Mid's and High's are great and bass is not overwhelming but just right but with the 840 pads you do get a little more bass.
