Is this true? I'm looking to get a pair of headphones, and right after I bought my MDR-V600, I could tell they weren't great.

I'd like to pick up the V6 if they are the same as the 7506. (The V6 is cheaper than the V600)

The answer? Yes, they're the same.

The only difference is the plug at the end, for the 7506, it's gold plated. also, the 7506 has more documentation with it, a parts sheet for example. And, of course, what's written on the headphones is different.

No difference in sound quality--in fact, most of the parts are interchangable between the two.

That issue has been addressed many, many times, in both head-fi and headwize. Most options suck, by the way.

I suggest you use the search engines from both forums. You should find a *RELATIVELY* good way to get them, in all of the fluff.

Look for "V6" and "Canada" or something.

Well, my search to get these damn V6 phones in driving me crazy!

why the hell dont we have these in Canada?!?

Does anyone wanna buy these for me (I'll paypal you the money), then ship it to me with fedex (say its a gift no value). Then I'll paypal you more money for the shipping.

I don't know how else to do this.

Anyone here own a store that wants to help out a Canadian in need?

Sykrus:

My 1700s should be here later this week. If I like them, I may be getting rid of my V6/7506. Keep an eye on the "For Sale" forum

Sykrus,

From my experience (in Melbourne, Australia), you will not find the 7506/V6s in consumer audio stores. Our hardcore "Sony Central" didn't even have the 7506/V6s LISTED in the catalogue of available phones - we only get up to the MDR-CD780 or the MDR-F1 - no MDR-CD3000s etc. You will need to contact professional audio/video/production retailers.

Unfortunately, this will most likely rule the V6s out, as the professional retailers will be selling the 'professional' 7506s. This was my expereince anyway.

I found this link on the web, can't work out if they sell the 7506s or rent them out:

http://www.locationsound.bc.ca/headphones.htm

This site was found by doing an advanced google search (http://www.google.com/advanced_search) for mdr-7506 and specifying ".ca" in the domain field.

Good luck!

Guys,

http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showth...&threadid=3019

I recently posted the above thread regarding the V6 in canada.. After a few phone calls (6-7 stores: music, pro audio, electronics) and many e-mails, I came to the conclusion that you cannot get the V6 in Canada (like gordon_123 told us). However, you can find the 7506 with a little work. Vistek.ca has them listed for about CDN$185. Many pro-audio stores carry them as well.

Ordering from the US is another option, but it's pricey. Shipped through UPS ground, the USD$70 MDR-V6 end up costing about CDN$200. You're better off buying the 7506 from a local store and get warranty plus the "Professional" label for the same price.

stymie miasma, so you did not find any retailers in Australia that might sell the Sony V6's headphones? How much would the more expensive 7506 cost over here then? And do you know which "professional retailers" and where to get them at?

ugggh... I give up!

I went to a bunch of places yesterday, and I found one store that has a "prefessional division" that has a pair of 7506 in. They cost $180 CDN (+ 14% tax

) , so I'm just gonna get those. Getting a pair of V6 here from the States is gonna cost me just under that, and I have to go through all the **** just to get them here.

I'll just buy the more expensive pair here with no hassle.

Temjin,

I looked pretty hard, but had no luck finding the V6s in Melbourne. In fact, no-one had really heard of them - the 7506s however are available from a few professional audio stores. I got mine from soundcorp in Melbourne:

www.soundcorp.com.au

AUS$220 inc tax. They Beyer pads will set you back a further AUS$ 30. Someone here or at Headwize mentioned the 7506s can be had for AUS$200, but I can't recall where, possibly QLD.

Putting that price into perspective, Grado SR60s are AUS$189 and SR80s and AUS$259. Senn HD600s are about AUS$600 from memory. AKG 501s retail around the AUS$300-350 mark.

Owww...$220+30 (if I wanted pads) is way out of my price range. Not that I can't afford it but I'm not sure if it's worth it, at least for me or my parents. I will think more about it............................. at least I wouldn't be buying one till holiday starts.

Just wanted to say I live in Quebec and actually bought the MDR-V6 from amazon.com (first time buying stuff online). They did ship using UPS and they did charge out-of-this-world bogus brokerage fees

Headphones : 104.69 $ (CAN)
Brok fees : 45.35 $ (CAN)
Grand total : 150.04 $ (CAN)

What a shock when I saw that yellow UPS slip of paper...

Let's just say I'm never ordering with UPS Ground ever again.

I just ordered some Shure E2's from ebay though, pretty sweet price : 59.99 US + 16.99 shipping to Canada (ships with USPS Ground this time)

I just hope I won't get ripped by your neighborhood Canada Customs this time.
