Okay aside to all the negativity against the MDR-V300, and i'm not advocating anything. But it was the only headphone I was able to compromise with. You see what I wanted was a replacement for my Panasonic Shockwave RP-HS900 Behind-the-neck. In pursuit of something better, and searching through hundreds of different headphones, this is what i've concluded:

All behind-the-neck headphones are not "good enough". (And yes i've also tried the Koss KSC-55)
And i'm not interested in ear-bud things.
So the only other option is portable light-weight HEAD-phones (via over the head haha) That is considering I can wear it almost anywhere (eg. The local shopping center). I am concerned about appearance, therefore they cant be large and bulky. Portable. Nonetheless, how they sound is important, or else whats the point? Right, and I listen to rap, hiphop, and a little rock; if that helps. The V300's are lightweight, look good, sound okay, and are easy (reversible earcups). Although having a single-sided cord would be extra

Others of interests (keeping in mind, what i want) are:
Grado SR60
KOSS sporta pro
HD 280 SILVER (Rather Bulky)
HD 25 (Kinda expensive)

My Price Range: $40-$125

Thanx

I have a pair of v-300s myself that I've had for a number of years. I always knew that the supplied headphones were not any good so I went to a local store and bought what was available in my price range. Looking back, I now see why these headphones have been thoroughly trashed here. However, they did a pretty good job for me for a number of years. They provided infinitely better sound than any supplied headphones, they isolated and they were fairly portable. I think the problem wiht the v-300s is that you can get better headphones for the same money. It's not so much that they're bad, but bad for the price.

I've since changed to D66, PX200 and Shure E2 for portable use (just got the E2!

) Since you don't want ear buds, I think you will find the D66 or PX200 a better value. In your case, I suggest the PX200, which you can get for about $50. It has everything you need, decent bass, portability, style and isolation.

Well I like the V900. Little bit dark, little bit warm. V700, eh. V600 ew.... Never heard anything farther down the line though so I can only imagine.
