The KRK I tried was the polar opposite of a 900 in sound and feel.
They were harsh and uncomfortable.
But...you gotta check them out yourself...we're all different.

Can someone recommend a similar sealed headphone in terms of low clamp and weight. I just bought a MA900 and really like the comfort and sound of these.

The Mdr 1r is also comfortable. Dont know how the Mkii sounds but im sure its similar.

First of all, would either q701 or MA 900 be an upgrade? or more of a side-grade?
Second, how do they compare?
Lastly, can they both be driven by fiio e10k?

Id say small upgrade. The Ad900x is much closer to the Ma900 as opposed to the a900x.

They sound a bit different. The Q's are more detailed up top and brighter. The MA900 are a bit rolled off up top. Usually this translate into the brighter thinner headphone having a bigger soundstage but the design of the MA900 and it's slightly dry nature make for a very spacious soundstage, more spacious overall than the Q701 IMO. The MA900 have better mids with a mid bass hump while the Q701 has a leaner bass. Both are comfortable but the MA900 is even more so! 
 
The MA900 is the better all rounder but the Q701 is better detailed up top.

Not sure. I owned a pair of beyer 990's and i loved the pads. So it seemed like a good fit. Not entirely sure what the pads do to the sound but the comfort is vastly superior.

My Sony ma900's are shipped off to the casper to have his magic done. Painted, detachable cable, dual entry cables and possibly new grill. What sucks is i have to wait until the 19th of march to get them back. I told him to show them off @ the michigan meet on the 14th.
 
 
I am not the best with adobe but this is the best I could do to make them look white. I can't tell if I like it.
