Sony MDR-M1 vs Sony M1ST

The Sony MDR-M1 was released this month, and there is discussion about how it compares to the Sony M1ST, which has been available in Japan for some years now.

Can anyone confirm whether or not the two headphones are related? Is it possible for someone to compare the two for us?

Your question will probably remain unanswered. All reviewers compare M1 with 7506, although the comparison should start with closest brother M1ST. Probably Sony decided so that it is not advisable to mention M1ST By the way M1ST is quite an international version, as it is sold outside Japan

M1ST is made in Oita, Japan.

Well, they have same housing but completely different drivers and i think M1 has same but thicker earpads. Much more bass looking at the graphs. I doubt we will get direct comparison anytime soon though.
