Thanks for your comments rab10. Actuallly, I find the sound quality stunning for it's price, and loads of treble when I push the bass boost up. I wouldn't go to the price of etys, since most of my listening is done with the 580s. But yeah, I'm pretty happy with these EX71s, and the best part is, they don't fall out and don't leak sound as much as others.

think I addressed your questioning points properly, and I think
I just talked about my comments about the EX71's instead, SORRY.

I have the volume turned up 'higher than usual' but I have never

Some posts I have read about
the Etty's and Shures are they lack Bass.

The EX71's have plenty of bass UNAMPED. Infact that is why many
people don't like the EX71's cause their Bass is too much. I have a
Sony MD Player and I never use the 2nd Sony "BASS BOOST" cause
the Bass is too Boomy through the EX71's and the Highs (treble) gets
muffled.

So if that is what you are looking for "Earphones/Earbuds/Ear-Canal
Phones that can handle THE SONY Second "BASS BOOST" setting
without the sound getting Muffled, Mud-ied, etc.

I don't know if there is.

I've got a Sony D-EJ360 and with the EX71's, on level 3-4 it's barely audible and at that level, I'd never be able to tell a good headphone from a bad headphone. Level 8 or 9 seems about right for most recordings without any bass boost. I have been listening to loud music for 30 plus years regularly and had my hearing tested justa few months ago and it is fine.

Thank you spyro for confirming the same thing as me. Yes, level 4 is indeed barely audible.

The Ex-71 can provide quite a bit of isolation if the tips happen to fit your ear canals. I never got a good seal with my EX-70's, but even then, they provided better isolation than most closed headphones in the sub $100 USD range.

I found myself cranking up the volume with the EX-70 because of the dip in the mid range and the lack of details across the spectrum. Although I would consider the EX-70 very easy to drive, I think they are a little harder to drive than the cheap earphones or headphones that come for free with the portable device.
