Sony MDR-E282 why so rare?

Hi, anyone knows why the Sony MDR-E282 are so rare? I couldn't find any clue in the web.

They are rare because they have not been produced for a long time. The price of 7,000 Japanese yen in 1985 is not cheap. There are two production run. In the first one the cable split joint is painted brass tube. In second is plastic.

Ok then, it's more a collection item for its rarity.
