Those of you wanting to by the sony MDR-DS5100, think again. The echo is very cheap, flat, the vocals have severe ear fatigue attached to them and the infront localization is muffled and slightly distorted. It does give you rough format of digital surround sound but it doesn't give you that true 5.1 onscreen effects. The center channel alone sound is too distorted. Dolby Headphone is gonna crush the MDR-DS5100 like two U.S. sky marshals against one hijacker. Dolby Headphone is the ultimate movie experience. According to Lake and other sources Sanyo is already making the chip for the hardware version of Dolby Headphone. We should be seeing results in the upcoming quarter of 2002 meaning, jan-march of 2002.
