Has anyone directly evaluated the mdr-cd900st vs. the MDR-7506?

If you have, I would appreciate your opinion on the differences between these two devices. The comparision must be between the mdr-cd900st and mdr-7506(mdr-v6), as to establish a somewhat(however loose) useful point of reference. I have no method to preview these seemingly obscure headphones before purchase.

TIA.

i've posted brief review while ago about cd900st but not much about comparison with 7506. after that i auditioned 7506 again and compared to cd900st, 7506 is boomy and muddy, also mid high sounded strong. cd900st has tighter bass and clearer high end. in one word, cd900st is definitive and 7506 is loose, in relative term. some find cd900st is too unforgiving and 7506 gives more fun, others enjoy cd900st as quite detailed phone.

here is interesting link to the pics of 7506 and cd900st torn apart. cd900st has thinner pad, white plate, dampening form and holes on inner cup.

I used to own V-6's (same as 7506) and last year obtained V7's (900st). I can say that the overall sound is similar, but the V-7 is flatter, with more extended highs.

I have both. In short, treble on the 900ST is less in your face and somewhat more refined. Bass is much dryer, with deep bass totally AWOL compared to the 7506. If you're looking for polite and easy to listen to, the 900ST may be your thing, while the 7506 is more straightforward (to borderline rude).

I'm not aware of any shortage of bass in the V-7 at all.

yeah, there isn't enough love for this phone around here....this review sure makes it appealing: http://www.sgheadphones.net/index.php?showtopic=9338

I fully agree w/ the reviewer that the Pro750 is horrid and the HFI-780 a bait to make you buy an Ed.9, I don't think a CD900 would be made of regrets for me...as were the Pro750/D2000/DT770 Pro and others I forgot about

It could even be modded w/ those DT250 earpads: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/313962-REG/
