I've searched the net for info on these headphones I have, and can't find anything. Sony support says it's an invalid model number, one that never existed... I know they exist, because I'm looking at them.
They are Sony MDR-CD100, from sometime in the mid- to late- 1980s. They look a lot like the MDR-V6 (which I also have): cheap vinyl cover on pads, "STUDIO MONITOR" printed across vinyl pad (that goes over the top of your head), and "for Digital" on a red metallic sticker on each cup. The cups pivot 2 ways but do not fold. The band is metal (silver), as are the cups (black). Quite sturdy overall. Approx. 9 foot straight cord, which runs to each cup, and terminates in a gold-colored 1/8" plug (with a screw-on 1/4" plug adapter). The cups are round (not oval like the MDR-V6), and smaller than the MDR-V6; they sit directly on the outer ear rather than encompassing the entire ear.
Anyone know where these originated ? I think they may have been Japanese-market. Just curious about what these are, where they came from... seemed odd to me that Sony denies their existence.
