I know many people want to replace the earpads with non-stock ones, but while we're on the topic I want to ask this question. Is it not rather pathetic that no stock replacements are available? What is it with Sony getting people to spend 400 on a set of headphones and leaving them in the lurch for replacement parts? Is it just me that thinks this is wrong?

I could've sworn i just saw them for sale somewhere a few days ago, but i can't find the link anywhere now. I was looking them up to see how much they cost before I cut into mine to modify them. They were outrageously expensive though, like $60 or so.

...  The message is saying to contract for parts availability. Is that are trying to say?

Yeah, but I'm fairly certain that the pads are intentionally shallow to minimize resonance in the low mids and bass. At least thats the first thing I noticed when I put the 840 pads on.

I asked what amp I should get for the MDR-7520 + Titanium HD and was recommended the Schiit Magni. When asked if I should spring for the more expensive Vali or Asgard 2, the user was not sure if it would be beneficial because the MDR-7520 are a 24-ohm load.

So, should I get the Magni or spend more on the Vali or Asgard 2? Would more expensive amps be even worth it consider these are only 24-ohm headphones?

24 ohms doesn't necessarily mean its easy to drive, it just means it's going to favor an amp with higher current output instead of higher voltage.

However, the 7520's are easy to drive, so it's up to you. I haven't heard them on any of those amps so idunno whether the extra money on the Asgard would be worth it.

For what it's worth, I'm powering them right now with an Aune T1, which is similar in output to the Magni and they sound great.
