I have the -1RBTs, and although I haven't heard the -1Rs to make an A-B comparison, I would have to imagine that they they are very close in sound, but not absolutely the same. They sounded good enough that I gave my brother my Sennheiser Momentums. I have A-B'd them against a pair of PSB M4U 2s, as well as my Westone custom IEMs. In all candor, the Westone's are clearly better than either (and should be, given the cost), but the PSB's in Active mode are a little fuller and more dynamic. That's the main "deficiency" I noticed with the -1RBTs - the dynamic range of the music is somewhat compressed (i.e., the softs and louds are not as soft and loud compared to a good wired headphone), which I assume is a function of the Bluetooth compression/transmission. This may actually be a plus for a lot of folks. If you do a very careful A-B comparison, you could sense that the sound had more grain and was a bit thinner (or less rich) than a good wired headphone. But, even though you say that BT capability isn't important, it's awesome to not be tethered by the cable. Unless you are doing critical listening, the sound quality is more than adequate. On an absolute basis, I think that the sound is very good to excellent, but not quite at the same level of a good wired headphone. But it's probably the best sounding BT headphone out there. I really like them, and they are very comfortable, even with glasses.
