Just got these headphones for about $110, brand new, sealed box. I think they are very good, especially for this price.

I like how light they are on your head, and my years fit nicely inside the earcups.

The sound is also very good for my taste. There could be a little less bass, but it's not an issue. Of course, I can always use EQ on the Sony WM1A or Sony A55 which I normally use with these headphones, but I want to experience the sound signature as is for now.

The 1AM2 changes a lot with time, I advise you to let it play for many hours.
When you equalize it, you will feel that your curve will be perfectly compatible with all your music tracks .. this is not a trivial matter and not all headphones have this behavior. I had at least one pair of headphones that, based on the musical genre or type of song, I had to recall the right EQ curve, among the many I had (certainly not a good way to relax and listen to music). If the curve I made (see above) should seem excessive in the bass, decrease it to your liking.
The 1AM2 is a headphone that has a lot of (quality) bass, but if you know how to adjust it properly it becomes a headphone that will give you great satisfactions.

I tried an EQ preset (based on this), hoping to temper those lows, and I'm very happy with the result.

I have to listen more maybe, but they are now closer to the Z7M2, with a little more presence. On the Z7M2 the bass is just enough, not more, not less, and if a song calls for more bass, you'll definitely hear/feel it.

The sound is very good - I'm not so technical, but compared to my other Sony's they might be a bit bright in the high notes, but overall they have impressive sound for the money. Just like the 1A my ears gets a little sweaty which they don't if I use Beoplay's H lineup or my other Sonys.

I also just got my N3 balanced in-ear from AccessoryJack, and they are the best in-ear I've tried sofar. And they have amazing sound as well. I tried the N1 from Sony a few months ago, and couldn't stand wearing them, but these are a keeper :)
Could you make a comparison between 1A and N3? You would help me a lot

Dear community,

I want to buy the MDR1 earphone pad. Can any other type of earphone pad be good? (ATH maybe)
Factory item I can not buy, the aftermarket I do not trust.

Thanks for your help

Picked these up on sale and they really do sound incredible via the balanced cable. Everyone knows about their lightness, but you really can’t believe it until you have them in hand - feels like a strong breeze could blow them down the street. Very highly recommended if you’re looking for throw-about closed headphones with a lot of versatility and comfort.

I updated the values in the table.

In the meantime this one is also good (at least for me) if you want to just lower the bass boom a bit:
31 Hz
62 Hz
125 Hz
-0.5 dB
-1.0 dB
-1.0 dB

It sounds great on the balanced port of my WM1A.

Yeah, while I fiddled with the EQ a bit, I think I'll probably stick to no EQ, and try to get used to the extra-bass (compared to the Z7M2).
