And a non replaceable battery :)
Same with the MDR-1000X?

I had the QC25, I'd rather carry one general battery pack than a bunch of rechargeable AAA's. I also made sure I was fully charged before any long trips.

How do the MDR-1000X compare to the Westone 4R IEMs in terms of isolation/noise cancellation, sound, and comfort?

Thanks
In my mind, MDR1000X > QC35 > BA Isolating IEM > QC20 with foam tips for total cancellation + isolation.

You mean the MDR-1000X and QC35 isolate more than sealed BA IEMs?

If you look at the top right chart in each link, you'll see that InnerFidelity measured the Westone 4R IEMs to isolate much more than both the 1000X and QC35:

Im sharing my personal opinion having actually used all of them.

After getting rid of MDR-1000X (due to the irritating voice guidance feature) I am considering the QC35, as there are not many others out there. From a wireless/NC headphones I should really care about convenience, form, fit, etc rather than absolute sound performance. MDR-1000X didn't seem bad but I wouldn't say that it's much better sounding than MDR-1ABT, either via BT or cable, but obviously with a rather good active NC added. If I want pure music it's always better to do it at home, relaxing on a more convenient seat and using a better DAC and source.

I think you'd like the QC35, if you really prioritize all the other factors over sound quality.

Well I just picked up a brand new pair of these for $243. I hope I don't run into this crack on the left hinge problem.
Oooh.....where?

It was for military only.

Aww shucks.

Well, if you are a veteran or currently active, thank you for your service.

The reason why 1000x break and creak is the hinge. I got a pair where only one side creaks and the reason is one of the hinges is way to strong, one is very easy to push and the other one really hard and that makes the plastic need to work more. If build into the headphone it is not really noticeable that one is hard than the other.

Anyone having issues with the thin leather on the headband peeling? I've had mine for just 3 days and already they're starting to peel a little around the edges although the earpads seem to be holding up. I have less worries with the earpads as you can replace them, but the headbands... >..<

How does it sound with speakers at max volume? Are you sure it's not the file?
I've tried this track and others with my car which has bose sound system, no problem at max volume, it's not just about this file, I've tried many songs on youtube, most of them are the same at max volume (when wired and powered on) do you have this product to try it if it's possible ?
