I dont like the ear hook on the original cable as it make it harder to roll and store them inside a hard case
And if i force them in they tend to become out of shape
I was struggling with the cable storage question and I’ve just settled on a Pelican G40 case + custom 3D printed holding tray. I’m still tweaking the design but it’s pretty good for a second attempt. I’ll post with future results if people are interested. The DAP is a the WM1A with Dignis case.

Yup. I'm cutting back some of the horizontal supports right now. I want to keep them from banging against one another. I also needed to cut back the left side IEM support a little so that I don't need to unplug the balanced cable from the DAP either.
Fortunately each print only uses about 50 grams of PLA (out of a 1 kilo spool). Unfortunately, they each take 5+ hours... Version 3 will print overnight. Thanks for the feedback!
Just for some users who are using a lot IEM, I found after a few weeks that the beyerdynamic Xelento ear tips are by far the less intrusive and most comfortable tips I ever found for the IER Z1R !!!
What a nice idea to make ultra soft tips that can auto-adapt to the ear canal with perfect seal then any other tips that need the ears to adapt to the tip.
I have tried so many that are painful after a pair of hours that I feel marvelous to use these 8 hours or more without feeling anything... In a short way => ultra soft ear tips (softer than any other model), very good seal, good noise isolation, keeps more or less same bass texture and speed as sony's hybrid tips and can be used loads of hours without any pain (in my case none of the other brands can be used so long without any pain).
Easy to order at Beyerdynamic Germany, really worth to try. Till now I liked the Hybrid ML size (though feeling some pain after a few hours), and with the Xelento Dark Vador's helmet tips, I prefer the XXXL size, as it is far less intrusive and still probably at the same place in the ear canal.
I have not try many portable amp so I can't give you the recommendation. But I will suggest you to try to pair this with Chord Hugo 2 or Sony DMP-Z1 as the benchmark. Pick whichever source that you think is closer to the 'performance'.

Wow IER-Z1R scqles well with power from dmp-z1. Though my test wasnt with my pair )theyre at home 400km away) and the demo Z1R was dropped by uncaredul customers and had SE instead of 4.4
