I rotate them all depending on the mood but my plan is to eventually downsize the collection to 3-4 IEM’s, with the Z1R being one of them.
Ideally I would like a collection of IEM’s that are each specialists in bass, mids, and treble respectively, plus an all-rounder/reference type of monitor. However they all still need to be able to perform as an all-rounder to some degree as well. I know, it’s a bit weird and OCD lol...
So at the moment my top 3 would be Erlkonig for mids, Z1R for treble, and LXSE for bass. If the LXSE didn’t exist, the Z1R would cover both bass and treble
Interesting... Thanks for that!
Since I recommended them, I sincerely hope that this eartips will work ideally for you as well. Personally I don’t mind spending some money on well reviewed eartips as they are one of the most crucial component to extract best possible SQ. I mean I spend thousands of $ for these fancy pansy cables which yield relatively small sum of sonic benefits.
Based on your posts here I bought a set of large Eartunes and they are now my favorites. The fit/seal is perfect and seems to have brought about more punch with the bass and low end. I'm listening to old Elton John (Madman Across The Water in DSD) and the drums are just phenomenal.
I used to really like the Sennheiser oval tips on my ie800s so was happy to learn about these as they are very similar.
All I can say for any future and new owners is really spend time tip rolling for the best comfort. I am using a ML on my left ear and S on right, for reference on the erlkonig I use S on both.
Great seal on both and much better comfort for my left ear versus the S. No noticeable sound imbalance either.

The eartips had arrived unexpected early this afternoon, the M size fit perfectly for my ear canal.
@normie610
M size should fit you as well.
I do the measurement of the missing diameter information, for the M size it is 10.5mm width x 13mm height x 8mm tall.

I do not any tips, if mix size is not sold as pack.
It take bit of experiment to find right size and it varies with IEM, not sure Eartune does not sell mix pack.

Ordered the Symbio F foam tips. Thanks for the suggestion, now waiting for them to be delivered. Should be here in 2-3 days.I haven’t had great experience with narrow bore tips either (sq wise) on the Z1R even the stock tips... I’d highly recommend trying out some wider bored tips (Sedna light short or acoustune AET07 for silicone or symbio F’s for foam).

Crin wasn’t kidding when he said you need a deep insertion depth with the Z1R.
I simulated this with my couplers and found wildly different frequency responses depending where the eartips were sitting. (Shallow to deep)
All three graphs were plotted with the Eartune fidelity U eartips.

I did observe more treble as insertion depth increased my ear. I'm not sure if it's the Eartunes doing that or if it's just the nozzle going further in. Here's my setup:

not sure if horn shaped eartips might be another contributing factor.

Haha I wish I didn't like its sound so much as it would save me some money and grief from the wife. She can't even relate to more than a couple hundred dollars to "listen to MP3s" lol.
dammit....now I have to ask...what are those eartip setup?I did observe more treble as insertion depth increased my ear. I'm not sure if it's the Eartunes doing that or if it's just the nozzle going further in. Here's my setup:
I'm looking for ways to make the Z1R more comfortable (not that big issue for me, but still)
Pretty sure the Z1R has more eartips in the packaging than any others I've ever seen? I don't own one but that huge selection of tips should make it pretty easy for 99% of people.dammit....now I have to ask...what are those eartip setup?

How uncomfortable are we talking here? Just curious?

I'm sad to say I don't know where those "stabilizers" came from as they were in my box of stuff I'd acquired over the years.
The heavy shells on the Z1Rs tend to droop into a position that makes some of the IEM's edges press uncomfortably against my ear lobes so I've experimented with various ways to mitigate that, and luckily this setup seems to work well. If I can figure out what IEM/earbud they came from I'll follow up.
They did provide a very generous selection of tips, that's for sure. But everyone's ears are different. While I'm not uncomfortable with them, if there's a chance I can make it better, I will jump to itPretty sure the Z1R has more eartips in the packaging than any others I've ever seen? My problem with it just mostly the size, not the tips, but who knows. I can deep fit it though.
