SONY IER-Z1R

Sure, but already with the LC-2.5D cable the IER sound great, but as soon as the LC-RE arrives I will let you know my impressions compared to the all silver one that is connected now, from what I had read it should be a cable V soundwise as indeed the iem themselves. I just hope that the cable does not exaggerate in the V sound signature, more than anything else I took it for the interchangeable connectors and because already the LC I have is very comfortable and you don't feel it on.
If there had been an LC-D with interchangeable connectors I would have taken that also because for the lows the IER are already fine, while at the top the pure silver gives something more.

The Max and the IER...
Paolo Nutini... Northern Skies, it seems to be with him while he sings it ... this is the magic that happens when you go beyond the technique and get to the sound.

Planning to get Sony IER Z1R soon. The source which i am going to use it with is my DAP, Cayin N6ii with two of its modules, A01 and E02. Anyone here tried the same combo? Does it sound underpowered(A01) or bright(E02) with my DAP and its modules?

Can you suggest any portable amp solution that can be added to N6ii which can make Z1R sound better? Looking for one under 500-600 USD.

The Cayin has plenty of power... single ended pushing ~200 mW @ 40 ohms, ~500 mW balanced. Maybe there's gains above 200, but would be surprised if they really benefit from more than a half watt.

@doctorjuggles cables are great for iems like our beloved Z1R. Mine is a graphene cable witch makes de Sony´s sound like no other one, included the Fiio LC 4.4D that I also own.grahpene.jpg

The Z1R's stock cable may be the only stock cable ever that I think outshines every after market cable I throw at it, be it silver or copper based. Of cos it's not a top-of-the-world cable, but it is THE ideal match for Z1R which is not known for thick mids anyway. Swapping cables doesn't thicken the mids significantly.
I think the best way to address the recessed mids is to pair the Z1Rs with either a warm source like the Chord Mojo or to EQ them to a more balanced frequency response curve like Harman.

Very beautiful cable. Does anyone know what the most common cable pairings are for the Z1R?

I was wanting to ask about amp recommendations, seems like a good time to jump in.
From owning and demoing various portable and desktop amps I've found even my 16ohm Oriolus get a nice boost from higher powered outputs.
My main source will be my WM1A but the times I will sit at my desk I want to get either a portable or desktop dac/amp to provide them with a more powerful output.
Are there any portable or desktop options, preferably with 4.4mm output up to US$700 that may have good synergy with the Z1R anyone can please suggest? I understand it may come down to tastes.
I've had reasonable results amping my WM1A so I am also open to that option.
Portable would have benefits, some options I can think of is the Oriolus BA300s, Fiio Q5s....

IfI Hip Dac $130 4.4 out Burr Brown Dac

Thanks, looks like a good portable option.
I ended up going in another direction as I also own the MDR-Z1R so have a TA-ZH1ES on the way.

TA is on another level. But as far as portable options go, this DAC in a nice leather Miter case looks and sounds great if you like the warmer signature. I Wanna check out the Lootoo S1 to see if it can match the SQ and soundstage of this DAC
