Is there any iem-up today 2025-sounding like z1r -possibly with better(not so much recessed) MIDs and not so scaled at higher volumes- or information on new(similar) Sony iems???

I never used a tool removing mmx cables.

Just pull as straight up as possible while turning connector left to right as you pull. I've not damaged a connector yet.

I’ve been the same until this final audio cable in the z1r. The connectors won’t pull out and I’m afraid to damage them

Just got back from Japan. Picked up a brand new Sony MDR-Z1R, IER-Z1R, and an unused WM1Z—and yep, there’s now a black hole where my wallet used to be. But being able to demo all of them first and then buy them new? Such an awesome opportunity!

You can always order original Sony spares. I ordered a genuine 4.4mm replacement for ~$125.
