sony fontopia 71 vs ksc 35 vs sharp md33s

I recently bought myself an ipod 40gb. Now my dilema is I hate the apple headphones and I'm looking for a good sound quality earbuds/earclips for less than 50 dollars. I'm not an audiophile but I do know the difference between pos and quality earbuds/headphones.

I like the sharp and the fontopia cuz of the noise isolation, but many people suggest i shud not overlook the ksc35 because they are very good earclips. Are they extremely better or just a bit?

it seem like all 3 of those headphone have lots of bass.
sound wise, the ksc35 deliver the fullest sound, md33s second and ex71 is last and my least favorite.

also the md33s and ex71 isolate noises, the ksc35 is full open so they leaks noises.

KSC-35's are great, but they leak A LOT.

I have the ksc-35 and md33s.

I use the Sharps more because they are excellent for city use, especially on a bike. The ksc-35 does give you fuller sound, but at the expense of leakage and overall convenience. The md33s are very comfortable and sound remarkably good after the foam-insert mod posted on this board (I think by digidub?). Mine are double-modded since I also shorted out the 4-pole plug.

If leakage matters, start with the Sharps; you you can always add the ksc-35s later for a great all-purpose portable kit.

The md33s are NO fun. Technically a good earphone, but simply not the right tonal balance to provide an enjoyable listen (at least, not with the music I tend to listen to with my portable).

I think that everyone who has an ipod should own a pair of KSC-35's for portable use. The sound has great low end extension, and they store into a pretty small smace when you take them off. I have the sony ex70's (predecessor to the 71), and there is no contest in sound between them. The KSC-35 is much better.
