Well, I've been looking into buying a home based CD player for a while now, but here's the thing: If it doesn't mave DVD and MP3 capabilities, I know I'll regret it later. I can't spend too much, I don't really care about CD capacity, but I do care about sound quality. The only sure bet that I know of is the DVP-NS755V, but the price is too high at $500 Canadian. How long will I have to wait before the price drops another hundred dollars or more? Because I might just have to go for the Sony DVP-NS415, which I've heard absolutely no comments about, and is sort of a risk in itself.

Have you listened to the NS755V? I thought some Head-Fiers mentioned that it didn't sound as good as the 500V because it uses a different DAC, but I can't say for sure.

The thread Royboy's talking about might be this one. It contains a negative report based on a conversation with three guys at an outlet (as opposed to the poster's first-hand experience). There's also a link to further negative reports.

I've also read that the 775 and 777 sound far better than the 500 or the 755.
