Hi

I was searching for a new portable audio system and i landed on this great forum. I'm a student from montreal with a low budget. Now, i have a nomad IIc with some crappy sony headphones and I was hoping to buy an Ipod. But, 400$ CAN is really too much for me and also I want a good sound before having 10000 songs on me. With what i collected from the opinions here, I think that I will go for a sony dne300 with shure e2c headphones.

Anyway, i want to be sure that it is the best solution for the price (250$ CAN). I want to be blown away by this duo. I mainly listen to rock and jazz. I just want to have some opinions on this from real amateurs.

Also, does anyone know if there is a place at montreal where i can buy some shure e2c for less than 110$CAN? Steve music store carries it at that price.

Thanks

I have the dne300 with shure e2c headphones and i`m very happy with both.

The E2`s have very good bass for such a small thing, and the dne300 has good sound quality and the skip protection is excellent.

The thing i like about the dne300 is the ability to put 170 songs on one cd at 131 kb/s which is the sound quallity of the average mp3 you would get on kazaa or any other p2p place. so you can put all the songs you want on one $.50 disk.

I recommend the dne300 if you are on a budget. The ipod has a good headphone jack, but like you said, its too pricy.

I think the headphone jack and the anti-skip of the dne300 is marginally better than my other sony pcdp's that costed me two to three times more (EJ725 and EJ915). Its cheap and its light weight.
