Check out the ALO Audio website HERE. They sell a NOS D-25. It lists what to look for in a battery and power supply in the description.

Oleander, lemme know if you find any success in locating a battery as I am looking for a replacement too on a D-25. I read somewhere a good battery shop can gut the old battery and pack it with a higher amperage cell. I saw some guy on ebay did this to a d555 when he was auctioning it off and he reported battery life greater than 2hrs per day times 3 and stopped testing it, so total battery life is alot better stock. Dunno if it will work on the d25 battery pack though. I have looked around but have not made any serious inquires. Good luck and PM back please if successful. Regards.

I just ordered a BP-2EX which is is a Li-on battery of the same size which is readily available. Once I receive the charger I'll post how it all works. Based on some net postings, it should work OK.

Very good! My D-25 is not seeing much use but I would love to hear it on battery vs. wall-wart.

Nevermind. I see now the price at the link I originally posted here is a ripoff ($42). Glad I didn't buy one at that price!!

Will do. But the D25S only gets occasional use in the collection: I'm listening mostly to a full sized player and one of my D303s.

I'll listen to it sometime soon until the battery dies and post impressions. From what I remember reading, the battery life of Li-ons was much better than the original Nicads, which wouldn't be surprising. It will be interesting to see how this generic battery holds up...the price is certainly right.

Sorry to dredge this thread up, but I'm curious about these batteries over the longer term. I don't use the players often enough to be really relevant, but I wonder how sure we can be that the original chargers are appropriate for these Li-Ion BP-2X equivalents. I bought 4 of the Li-Ion replacements from Akkuwelt but it came with no documentation regarding a direct BP-2X replacement apart from the legend on the battery.

Is the standard charging circuit / timing going to cause problems down the line? Has anyone taken apart one of the batteries and figured out if it has any overcharging protection?
