I'm considering throwing most of my misshapen (but nevertheless good) DIY bits & bobs out in favour of something sleek. Besides that fact that it looks crappy, the current system has a habit of not working when I have someone around to whom I've talked up my DIY hi-fi building skills
I was also thinking of getting a dedicated DVD player and throwing out a computer with a TV-Out that I'm using as a DVD player. And cheap, as these days I don't sit at home specifically listening to music. The DAV-S550 sounds like the ideal thing. It's a one-box solution and all I'll need to do is to stick my minidisc deck on it.
Question would be how bad is the system overall in terms of sound quality? I'd put my current homebuilt mess in the lower-end Linn bracket if I was flattering myself. I know I'm not going to get that with the Sony but is it relatively OK or relatively shyte?
