Yes! Finally I got a real one from Amazon. The difference to the fakes: other datenumber (19w35), including a little bag wit clip and eartips, protectionfolie on the microphone, black filter and better feeling (quality) at the first touch. Sound is superb.

They sound AWFUL. No clip or eartips included, no protection folies on the microphone.

The nozzle doesnt have the foams in it, looks like a regular mesh. Thats the quickest way to confirm if its fake or not.

Sony uses foams in a lot of their iems.

I never bought anything from Shopee, but the general consensus is that all MH750 sold separately are fakes (particularly the black ones). Your best bet is to purchase them bundled with a Sony BT receiver (i.e. SBH24), or second-hand.
That's what I did - got two used SBH24 units with mint condition MH750s via local ads.

Is the MH75x really all that good to justify such extensive means of getting them? For now I am just wondering whether the MH755 (orange and white) could possibly not be a fake. But I had mistakenly thought that MH750s are often fakes.

A real Sony MH755 is really very good for the price (I bought mine at $5 USD or so IIRC). It follows the Harman curve very closely, good timbre and tonality. It can compete with some more expensive sets, but IMHO it isn't a giant killer for these reasons:

1) Non detachable super short microphonic cable - most folks need a cable extension or MMCX/recable mod to make it more usable in practice. The microphonics are a bummer, thought they can be reduced to some extent by wearing it over the ears or using a shirt clip

2) Slightly shouty upper mids

3) Poor isolation

4) Average technicalities (imaging, instrument separation, details)

5) Availability - hard to get a legit one nowadays, short of buying a Sony BT receiver. And legit ones may be more expensive than the usual selling price.



I mean, I won't complain about the MH755's sound for the price, it has excellent price to performance ratio, but IMHO if you have some higher end budget/midfi single DDs, you'd probably have heard something better.

I say they are the best iems up to the 20 usd range. Where iems like KZ DQ6 and the Blon BL-03 start to pop up.

Not if you are paying over $25. For that price there better/equivalent gear available especially in Chi-fi.

Never heard about the Tanchjim. I agree, the blon‘s are good cans. I prefer the frequency signature on the MH750.

Sony MH755 versus Tanchjim Tanya:
The Sony MH755 really has quite good timbre and tonality, but I think the Tanchjim Tanya beats it in these departments. The Sony MH755 can be shouty at higher volumes (Fletcher Munson curve) at the upper mids. Isolation and technicalities are also better on the Tanchjim Tanya.

Both sets have non detachable cables, but the Sony MH755’s cable is very short and J shaped, with markedly bad microphonics. One can’t go too far away from the source due to the short length (without using a cable extender), unlike the longer cable on the Tanchjim Tanya.

I see the Tanchjim Tanya as an upgrade over the Sony MH755, although it is more expensive.



BLON BL-03 versus Tanchjim Tanya:
Both sets sound a tinge analoguish and scale with amping, though the Tanchjim Tanya is still harder to drive. Both sets also have subpar isolation and share a similar tonality and timbre. The BLON BL-03’s midbass is more bloated and boomy.

The Tanchjim Tanya edges it in the timbral accuracy and technicalities department. The Tanya has non detachable cables. The BLON BL-03, even though it has detachable cables, has a notoriously bad fit due to the too short nozzles. Hence, most people need to do spacer mods or use aftermarket eartips/cables to secure a better fit.

Thus, the BLON BL-03 may be closer to $40 – 50 USD if aftermarket tips/cables are factored in, whereas the Tanchjim Tanya is ready to go OOTB, no need to mess around or spend more on aftermarket gear for it. As such, I see the Tanchjim Tanya as a marginal upgrade and a better set in terms of investment.
